WIFE AND MOM
Jamie's favorite thing in life is being a wife and mom. She and her husband have three kids, one in elementary school, one in middle school and one in high school.
FOUNDER, SMSD CIRCLE OF KINDNESS
Jamie is the founder of the SMSD Circle of Kindness service day. Four elementary schools come together to make toiletry kits for the homeless.
EMMY AWARD WINNING TELEVISION NEWS PRODUCER
Jamie is a former television news producer. She won an Emmy award for her writing. She was invited back to her high school, Topeka West, to talk about her experience in the news business. Jamie remains good friends with her high school journalism teacher to this day.
CITY OF SHAWNEE ADVISORY BOARD
Jamie is committed to service. She sits on the City of Shawnee Parks and Recreation Advisory board.
A VOICE FOR KIDS,
Jamie is a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). She volunteers with kids who have been removed from their home due to abuse or neglect and gives them a voice in court.
SITE COUNCIL INVOLVEMENT
Jamie represents the NW area on the district site council. She's also serves on the Trailridge Middle School and Christa McAuliffe Elementary site councils. She believes it's an important way to help the district and schools achieve their goals.
GIRL SCOUT TROOP LEADER & GIRLS YOUTH BASKETBALL COACH
Jamie is a former Girl Scout leader and girls youth basketball coach. She is passionate about empowering girls.
Jamie is the leader of the PTA committee, Youth Service Alliance/Kindness Club at Christa McAuliffe Elementary. The club has more than 90 students. Jamie has chaired numerous other PTA committees at Trailridge Middle School and Rising Star Elementary. She is also involved with several Booster Clubs at SMNW.
SPECIAL EDUCATION WORKER
During summers in college, Jamie worked as a camp counselor for kids with mental and physical disabilities. She believes all children have something special to offer.
BUSINESS EXECUTIVE MENTOR, KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY
Jamie is a servant leader and is dedicated to empowering people of all ages. She enjoys working with college students as a Business Executive Mentor at her alma mater, Kansas State University. She won Kansas State University's College of Business Executive Mentor of the Year award in 2019 for her work with students.
JAMIE'S CAMPAIGN TREASURER
Brandon Jackson is Jamie's treasurer. He has three teenage daughters, including one photographed here. Brandon and Jamie live in the same neighborhood and have known each other for years. He is involved with the Trailridge Middle School site council and is a small business owner.
FIFTH GENERATION KANSAN
As a fifth generation Kansan, Jamie is a product of strong Kansas public schools and believes in the power of diversity to strengthen student success. With her mother's family from Wichita, and her father's origins in Atchison County (where he attended a one room school house until 8th grade), Jamie's family has lived the Kansas motto, "Ad Astra Per Aspera,' understanding that even with humble beginnings Kansans soar to great heights.
DEDICATED TO CANCER CARE
Jamie has worked in oncology for over fifteen years. Currently, she works for a global healthcare company dedicated to helping conquer cancer. She is a Senior Account Executive and is involved with her company's women's leadership council.
